Farewell Mass for the Capuchins

On July 15, 2020, the farewell Mass for the Capuchins was celebrated at St. Anne-St. Augustin Parish in Manchester. Fr. Samuel Fuller, OFM Cap, Parish Administrator, was the presider. Fr. John Gallagher, OFM Cap, former pastor of St. Anne’s and St. Anne-St Augustin, was the homilist. Also concelebrating was Fr. Joseph Gurdak, OFM Cap, former pastor of St. Anne-St Augustin, and Bishop Peter Libasci and Abbot Mark Cooper from Saint Anselm Abbey were present in choir dress.

This was the Capuchins’ farewell Mass to the community; they are withdrawing from the parish and returning it to the diocese as of July 31, 2020.

The 7:00 p.m. Mass was preceded by Aaron Copeland’s Fanfare for the Common Man as a tribute to those of both churches who invested their lives and formed their faith thru their participation in the parishes and now parish over some 150 years to become an integral part of the life and fabric of the city of Manchester.
