Matrimony

“They are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate.” (MK 10:6-9)

Holy Matrimony, or marriage, is the sacrament which consecrates the partnership of a man and a woman to God and the building up of His Church on earth. Marriage in the Catholic Church is a holy and sacred bond, made between a man and a woman and God, as a symbol of Christ’s love for his Church.

The Sacrament of Matrimony results in a permanent and exclusive bond, sealed by God. When married, a husband and wife must make it their life’s work to see that their spouse gets to heaven. The sacrament gives couples the graces needed to attain holiness for themselves and their spouse and for the loving and responsible upbringing of their children.
