Rev. Paul L. Gregoire Called To His Rest

Gregoire Paul ObituaryOn December 29, 2022, the Reverend Paul L. Gregoire was called to his rest and to the glory of the Resurrection promised by the Lord. He was 93 years old.

Father Gregoire was born on March 28, 1929, the son of J. Albert Gregoire and Regina M. Crateau, in Dover, New Hampshire and was ordained a priest on June 4, 1955 by the Most Reverend Matthew F. Brady, D.D., at Saint Joseph Cathedral in Manchester. Father Gregoire studied at Assumption College, Worcester and then he completed his ecclesiastical studies at Saint Mary Seminary in Baltimore, Maryland.

Father Gregoire became a member of the Society of St. Sulpice on May 5, 1953 and returned to the Diocese of Manchester on July15, 1977 and was assigned as associate pastor of Saint Anne Parish in Berlin. In July 1978 Father Gregoire was assigned as associate pastor of Saint Joseph Cathedral Parish in Manchester.

Father Gregoire served as pastor of Saint Denis Parish in Hanover; Saint John the Baptist Parish, Manchester and as Administrator of Saint Patrick Parish, Manchester. He served as pastor of Saint Charles Parish in Dover and retired from active ministry in June 2006.

During his lifetime Father Gregoire served on several diocesan boards including the Diocesan Vocation Board; Diocesan Moderator of Marian Devotions; Dean of the Manchester West Deanery; Diocesan Consultor; Priest Senator representing Manchester West Deanery; and member of the Priests Personnel Board.

On Thursday, January 5, 2023 the Rite of Reception of the Body will take place at Saint Martin Church in Saint Ignatius of Loyola Parish, 120 Maple Street, Somersworth, NH. Father Gregoire will lie in repose in the church until the funeral Mass. The Most Reverend Peter A. Libasci, Bishop of Manchester, will preside at a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. The Rite of Committal will take place after Mass at Saint Charles Cemetery, Old Rochester Road, Dover, New Hampshire. The Grover Tasker Funeral Home of Dover has care of the arrangements.

With faith and hope in eternal life, let us commend our brother to the love and mercy of God and assist him with our prayers. The statutes of the Diocese of Manchester request that we offer three Masses for the repose of his soul.
