Rev. Marcel M. Allard Called To His Rest

Allard MarcelOn January 23, 2024, the Reverend Marcel M. Allard was called to his rest and to the glory of the Resurrection promised by the Lord. He was 85 years old.

Father Allard was born on April 28, 1938 in Manchester, New Hampshire and was ordained a priest on May 1, 1965 by the Most Reverend Ernest J. Primeau, S.T.D., at Saint Marie Church in Manchester. Father Allard studied at Saint Anselm College, Manchester, and then he completed his ecclesiastical studies at Our Lady of the Angels Seminary in Albany, New York after attending St. Paul Seminary, in Ottawa, ON, Canada.

Father Allard served as associate pastor of the following parishes: Saint Joseph Parish, Nashua; Sacred Heart Parish, Greenville; Saint Edmund Parish, Manchester; Saint Anthony Parish in Manchester where he also served as temporary administrator; Infant Jesus Parish, Nashua where he also served temporary administer and Parish of the Resurrection, Nashua.

Father Allard served as pastor of St. Paul Parish, Franklin; St. Paul Parish, Candia; St. Francis Xavier Parish, Nashua; St. Patrick Parish, Newport. Father Allard was relieved of his administrative duties due to health reasons and assigned as associate pastor of St. George Parish in Manchester. During this time Father Allard also served as temporary administrator of St. Theresa Parish, Manchester; Holy Family Parish, Gorham; Sacred Heart Parish, Wilton. He then served as pastor of Mary, Mother of the Church Parish, Newton; Sacred Heart Parish, Manchester; Parish of the Resurrection, Nashua; St. Matthew Parish, Windham; Mary, Mother of the Church, Newton; St. Jude Parish, Londonderry; Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish, Manchester; administrator of Sacred Heart Parish, Concord where he served until his retirement.

During his retirement, Father Allard remained actively engaged in parish ministry. First he served as Capital Deanery hospital chaplain and chaplain to the Carmelite Monastery, Concord and then as parish administrator at St. Mark the Evangelist Parish, Londonderry; St. Charles Borromeo, Meredith; and Parish of the Resurrection, Nashua as well as assisting at Corpus Christi Parish, Portsmouth.

On Wednesday, January 31, 2024, at 9:00a.m. the Rite of Reception of the Body will take place at Ste. Marie Church in Manchester. Father Allard will lie in repose in the church until 11:00a.m. The Most Reverend Peter A. Libasci, Bishop of Manchester, will preside at a Mass of Christian Burial on at 11:00a.m. The Rite of Committal will be celebrated after the Mass at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Manchester, New Hampshire. The Durning, Bykowski & Young Funeral Home of Manchester has care of the arrangements.
