P. 2
January 2023
My Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
I am so pleased to share with you our first report for the
New Hampshire Catholic Appeal.
In the first letter to the Corinthians, St. Paul writes, “As a body is one
though it has many parts, and all the parts of the body, though many, are
one body, so also Christ. . . . If [one] part suffers, all the parts suffer with it;
if one part is honored, all the parts share its joy.” Further, we find in Lumen
Gentium, “By communicating His Spirit, Christ made His brothers, called
together from all nations, mystically the components of His own Body.”
We believe that each person, made in the likeness of God, has a purpose
and to use that purpose, together with others, in pursuit of the common
good. As members of the Church, we are called to be a family who loves
and cares for others, even those outside of our communities. This year, I
called on you to participate in an endeavor that will benefit the future of
our Church in New Hampshire and your prayers, gifts, and engagement
truly demonstrated that unity of the Mystical Body.
Because of you, the New Hampshire Catholic Appeal: Future of our Faith II
raised over $1.4 million dollars for our shared ministries and your parishes.
In these pages, you will see our Church at-a-glance, our priorities to
strengthen our faith, and specifically the dollars allocated towards these
essential ministries and priorities.
I see a vibrant, thriving Church throughout New Hampshire that is
growing. Our diocese continues to inspire me and provide hope even in
challenging times. As your shepherd, I look forward to continuing to build
up our Body and work together as one Church.
Be assured of my prayers for you. Through the intercession of our patron
Saint Joseph, may Our Lord Jesus bless you abundantly as you have blessed
us and each other.
Sincerely in Christ,
MOST REVEREND PETER A. LIBASCI, D.D.
BISHOP OF MANCHESTER
