Prayer for Married Couples

As Pope Francis suggests, praying as a couple is good for your relationship, plain and simple. A recent analysis of data regarding couples’ and their religious practices found that 78% of couples who regularly attend religious services together reported being very, or extremely happy.

Also, couples who pray almost once a week or more frequently are considerably more likely to report being very happy in their relationship. Consider that God wants to be a part of your lives, and know that allowing Him in will do wonders for your relationship.

Not sure where to begin? A simple way to start is to frequent Mass and the sacraments together if you don’t already. The Sacrament of Reconciliation, the Mass, and the Most Holy Eucharist are vital nourishment for your marriage and lives in Christ. Apart from these, when it comes to prayer, don’t worry too much about “getting it right.” As Dr. Peter Kreeft reminds us, “the most important thing about prayer is not how we do it but that we do it.” Aim for practices that you can keep consistently.
