Child Safety » How to Report Sexual Abuse
If you or anyone you know has been sexually abused as a minor by a priest, deacon, member of a religious institute, or Church employee or volunteer, we encourage you to report the matter to the Division for Children, Youth & Families (“DCYF”) of the State of New Hampshire at (800) 894-5533 and/or local law enforcement.
The Diocese of Manchester’s Office for Healing and Pastoral Care offers pastoral support, outreach, and professional assistance to persons and families of those persons who report having been sexually abused by people representing the Church. The Office for Healing and Pastoral Care can be contacted at (603) 669-3100 or at email@example.com.
If you are a member of the clergy or a Church employee or volunteer and suspect that a minor has been sexually abused by a priest, member of a religious institute, or Church employee or volunteer, you have an obligation to make a report in accordance with diocesan policy. For more information about the mandatory reporting requirements, visit:
Church personnel who suspect a minor child has been sexually abused by an employee or volunteer of the Church must make a report to DCYF, local law enforcement, and the Delegate for Ministerial Conduct.
If the alleged victim is no longer a minor, Church personnel must make a report to the Delegate for Ministerial Conduct, (603) 669-3100.
Those reporting requirements and the procedure are also contained in Promise to Protect, Pledge to Heal: Policy for the Protection of Children and Young People
Parishes and schools are asked to inform adults about the procedures for reporting suspected abuse. An easy way to do this is to post the following graphic link on your website:
