The First Reading and the Gospel challenge us to be alert and to do what is right. Reflect on what it means for you to be alert and what God is asking you to pay closer attention to in your life. Ask for the grace to respond generously to what you see and hear God calling you to this week.
God our Father, you are the faithful potter.
You never abandon the work of your hands.
When evil shatters us, take us into your hands again.
Pick up the broken pieces of our lives.
Smooth our jagged edges.
Seal the fractures that weaken us.
As you fashion and refashion us,
mold us into people who are steady and strong.
Fill us with your many spiritual gifts.
Make us unbreakable vessels of holiness
that will gleam forever in the light of your kingdom.
We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Think about people in need in your local community or an organization dedicated to responding to people in need. Choose a practice of charity that will support and advance the response to the need you identified in your community or to the need addressed by a regional, national or international organization.
