Thrifty Ways to Save and Support the Community
Alovely little thrift store which has something for everyone. Very clean, friendly staff, I like it,” states Kelly. “I am proud to support a store that gives back to the community.” Just like Kelly, I, too, am proud to support The Grey Nuns Thrift Shop.
The Grey Nuns Thrift Shop is a non-profit store affiliated with St. Joseph Hospital and serving the greater Nashua community since it was established in 1991. Like St. Joseph Hospital the mission of the shop is to partner with our communities' local assistance programs and provide persons in need with clothing and other household goods. The shop provides quality goods at affordable prices.
I look at it this way, when you shop or donate items that would have otherwise been discarded, you are being a good steward by participating in a form of recycling. You get what you want and can feel good about helping others at the same time. Furthermore, the thrift shop supports the St. Marguerite d’Youville Charitable Fund, which helps local families and individuals in need by providing discounted medical care and financial assistance.
Let me leave you with this thought, whether you are a collector, new homeowner, unique costume lover, sociology nut looking to peek into the past or just a bargain hunter looking for some new items, The Grey Nuns Thrift Shop can be a great shopping destination.
The thrift shop always welcomes new volunteers to join the team and I would encourage the community to think of us when you have items to donate. If you are interested in volunteering or shopping, we are located at 25 Marshall Street in Nashua and open Tuesday through Saturday. Please call the shop directly at 603.883.2850. The staff and volunteers will be happy to share the story and answer your questions.
