Rev. Stanley J. Piwowar Called to His Rest

On Tuesday, March 20, 2018, the Reverend Stanley J. Piwowar was called to his rest and to the glory of the Resurrection promised by the Lord.  He was 92 years old.

Father Piwowar was born on September 9, 1925 in North Walpole, New Hampshire and was ordained a priest on May 19, 1951 by Bishop Matthew F. Brady, at Saint Joseph Cathedral in Manchester.  Father Piwowar studied at Saint Mary’s College, Orchard Lake, MI and then he completed his ecclesiastical studies at Saint Mary Seminary in Baltimore, MD.

Father Piwowar served as associate pastor of Saint Rose of Lima Parish, Littleton, Saint Paul Parish, Franklin, Saint Hedwig Parish, Manchester, and Saint Michael Parish, Exeter.

Father Piwowar was named pastor of Saint Joseph Parish in Claremont where he served for 43 years until his retirement on June 27, 2008.

On Thursday, March 22, 2018, the Rite of Reception of the Body will take place at 2:00 pm at Saint Joseph Church, 58 Elm Street in Claremont.  Father Piwowar will lie in repose at St. Joseph Church until 7:00p.m., concluding with the Mass of Jesus Christ, High Priest.  The Most Reverend Peter A. Libasci, Bishop of Manchester, will preside at a Mass of Christian Burial at Saint Joseph Church on Friday, March 23, 2018 at 11:00 a.m.  The Rite of Committal will take place at Saint Mary Cemetery in Claremont, New Hampshire.  The Stringer Funeral Home, 146 Broad Street, Claremont, New Hampshire has care of the arrangements.

With faith and hope in eternal life, let us commend our brother to the love and mercy of God and assist him with our prayers.  The statutes of the Diocese of Manchester request that we offer three Masses for the repose of his soul.
