Nancy Malo Honored with St. Martin de Porres Award
NH Guild of Catholic Healthcare Professionals
to Honor Nancy Malo with St. Martin de Porres Award

(MANCHESTER) - On Wednesday, April 20, immediately following the annual White Mass, the NH Guild of Catholic Healthcare Professionals will honor Ms. Nancy Malo, with the Saint Martin de Porres Award, given annually to a Catholic healthcare professional who exemplifies the virtues of Catholic healthcare.

Ms. Malo began her medical career as a respiratory therapist yet felt truly called by God to provide better instruction to families and couples around natural family planning. Her passion for correcting mistruths about NFP and enabling the faithful to understand its benefits led her to become Catholic Medical Center’s natural family planning instructor in 1983. For 37 years, Ms. Malo worked tirelessly to educate on the loving values of Catholic healthcare and embodied what is truly meant by protecting the dignity of every human person.

Perhaps one of the greatest contributions Nancy Malo has made, she has made possible for Catholic women to utilize well into the future and not just during her tenure. Believing in the mission of her Catholic values, Ms. Malo advocated for years to bring an approach to women’s reproductive health that uses natural methods and restorative surgery to treat conditions. It is the only such practice in New England. This has become the cornerstone of establishing the Women’s Wellness & Fertility Center at Catholic Medical Center.

In a letter to Ms. Malo, Bishop Peter A. Libasci notes “I am delighted that the Guild has recognized you for your longstanding service to women and their families, fostering hope and healing and raising awareness of God’s design of human fertility. I congratulate you.”

The annual White Mass is a special opportunity to ask God’s blessings for healthcare professionals and to affirm the profound service they give to the sick according to the model of Jesus Christ. The White Mass will be held at St. Joseph Cathedral in Manchester on Wednesday, April 20, at 6:00 p.m., and will be livestreamed at www.stjosephcathedralnh.org. At that time the New Hampshire Guild of Catholic Healthcare Professionals will recognize the recipient of the 2022 St. Martin de Porres Award.
