Permanent Deacon Ordination
The Most Reverend Peter A. Libasci ordained ten men to the Permanent Diaconate on Saturday, September 9, at St. Joseph Cathedral in Manchester. He said later, “The entire Church is called by Christ to serve others, but these men, by virtue of their sacramental ordination and through their various ministries, are special witnesses to the service of God’s people. I am profoundly grateful to them and to their wives and families for their commitment to our Church and to our world in imitation of Christ, who came ‘to serve and not to be served.’”

Share the Journey
A global campaign in support of migrants and refugees will be launched on September 27, 2017 by Pope Francis. The Share the Journey campaign aims to engage the Church and others who care about migrants and refugees, around the world and in the United States. Through education and advocacy, the campaign seeks to affect both personal feelings and opinions as well as public policy. It is a call to prayer, to reflection and to action.
The campaign asks our brothers and sisters throughout the U.S. to show their compassion and to Share the Journey with the millions of people across the globe who are fleeing poverty, oppression, war and disaster.

Voluntary Special Collection: Hurricane Irma
The USCCB has asked dioceses across the country to take up an emergency collection to assist the victims of Hurricane Irma. Bishop Libasci invites all parishes in the diocese to take up a voluntary special relief collection during the weekend of September 30-October 1. Funds raised by the collection will provide assistance to the victims of Hurricane Irma and to help rebuild damaged or destroyed churches in affected dioceses, especially the Diocese of St. Thomas in the U.S. Virgin Islands. Please also keep the victims of the storm in your prayers.
