Boys and Girls Club of Greater Nashua Receives $2,500 BCAF Grant
Grant to Help Children Most in Need
The Boys & Girls Club of Greater Nashua has been working with young people from disadvantaged economic, social and family circumstances for more than 40 years. The Club serves almost 3,000 boys and girls ages 5 to18, 53% of whom are minorities and 70% of whom live in households with extremely low incomes. Many of these children live in single parent homes, in dangerous neighborhoods and are at risk of using drugs and alcohol, joining gangs, failing in school, and being victims of neglect and abuse. The Club is a safe haven, open from after school until 9:00 pm and all day in the summer. The Club provides transportation from school to the Club and safely home, nutritious meals, and individual services to support the youth.
A grant from the BCAF helped to provide the balance of funds needed to purchase a new stove and refrigerator in the Club’s kitchen. In 2016, the Club served 44,042 snacks and 59,840 meals, which is a 37% increase in the last four years.
