New Generation receives a $5,000 Grant from BCAF for Operational Expenses

Founded in 1987, New Generation, Inc. is a shelter for homeless pregnant and newly parenting women. New Generation houses up to seven women and their infants at a time, providing counseling, parenting education, nutrition and life skills, as well as transportation to partnering agencies.  A transitional apartment provides shelter for an additional woman and up to two children.  Second Generation Thrift Shoppes in Greenland, Rochester and Seabrook provide operating support for the shelter.

New Generation, Inc. received a grant from the Bishop's Charitable Assistance Fund for the expenses of food, electricity, oil and snow removal at the Greenland shelter for pregnant and newly parenting women.

“New Generation has housed over 356 women and 235 babies since 1987.  Over 70% of resident are from Rockingham, Strafford, and Hillsborough counties, while other women are from New England and various states around the country.  Our goal for each woman is a healthy baby, increased knowledge on parenting issues and to obtain permanent housing so they are stable, self-sufficient fully functioning and happy families,” said Lisa Vincent, director of fund development for New Generation.  She went on to say, “I wish to thank the BCAF for your investment of $5,000 to help us pay expenses while we shelter women and their babies in crisis.”
