Christian Stewardship
Christian stewardship is a commitment made in response to God’s generosity: to live a life of gratitude; to make daily decisions to glorify God; and to share oneself and one’s gifts generously. Each of us has been endowed with many gifts from the Lord, our unique talents, our time here on earth and our material gifts.
Today in our society individualism, materialism, excess and entitlement are part of our culture and are communicated through the media. They promise so much but deliver nothing of lasting value. The best way to respond to God’s loving generosity is by reflecting that generosity day by day. Make time for prayer, nurture relationships with family and friends, participate in the worship life of the community of Christians, and act out of loving concern on behalf of others in the world.
Stewardship is the result of personal decisions about how we live, how we respond to God’s gifts based upon our experience, self-knowledge and call of God’s grace. Living as Christian stewards should bring a deeper, more solid joy and confidence in being disciples of the Lord.
