Business Manager / Accountant
St. Thomas Aquinas High School, Dover, NH

The St. Thomas Aquinas Business Manager reports directly to the Principal of the school and is responsible for a range of financial (with a school budget of $7 million) and operational activities at St. Thomas Aquinas High School.

The Business Manager will:

  • Advise the Principal regarding the proper investment of the school’s financial and physical resources.
  • Oversee the preparation of the school’s annual budget, working with the Department Heads, Principal, and Finance Committee.
  • Assess the school’s financial condition and devise an ongoing five-year budgetary plan and capital improvement plan with recommendations for such areas as Facilities, Admissions, and Advancement/Marketing.
  • Participate in Long Range Planning sessions (Deficit Reduction, Strategic Planning, & NEASC).
  • Provide monthly, quarterly, and year-end reports and projections to the Principal and to the school board’s Finance Committee, and make recommendations as needed.
  • Serve as secretary for the Finance Committee & School Board Meetings.
  • Coordinate all activities with contracted public accountant/independent auditors, including annual audited financial statement, to ensure that the school is in compliance with all accounting policies and procedures as dictated by the Diocesan School Finance Manual and relevant laws and best practices.
  • Oversee the recording, management and disbursement of all financial/accounting activities, including Purchase Orders, Payables, Receivables, and Payroll.
  • Oversee operations of the school’s bookstore and support financial aspects of school transportation, facilities, athletics, and other areas.
  • Prepare quotes and coordinate all bus trips with the transportation manager.
  • Operate Bell Commander scheduling system.
  • Supervise five staff members, to include: three Main Office Personnel, Bookstore Coordinator, and (outsourced) IT Technician.
  • Serve as liaison between the school and the Diocese of Manchester in the areas of:
    • Human Resources: ensuring all files are properly completed and all diocesan policies complied with. Maintain all employee files and prepare annual contracts for STA faculty/staff. Coordinate benefits packages and inquiries to that regard.
    • Risk Management: Prepare any accident or incident reports for Diocese and maintain proper files; obtain insurance, etc. as needed.
  • Fulfill duties of the Diocesan Safe Environment Coordinator (ensure all employees/volunteers have completed the hiring & refresher requirements)
  • Perform 4th floor evacuation sweep during emergency drills.
  • Prepare and file all vendor contracts, certificates of insurance, credit applications, scholarship accounting transactions, bank reconciliations, journal entries and other financial records.
  • File all forms, contracts and correspondence, ensuring that all documents are easily accessible and available when required.
  • Perform other tasks as directed by the principal and at all times support the school and its leadership.

The ideal candidate will hold a degree in accounting, business, or finance (or equivalent experience), and should possess 3-5 years of experience in a related position. Candidates should be familiar with GAAP and at least one professional-level finance software package (and be willing to rapidly learn Blackbaud’s Financial Edge package).

On-Call Bus Driver
St Thomas Aquinas High School, Dover, NH

SALARY: Based on experience

STATUS: On-Call/Substitute

BASIC FUNCTIONS: Under general supervision, operates a large or mini-school bus for a private Catholic high school over a designated route to transport secondary school students.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Drive a large or mini-bus over designated routes in accordance with time schedules, picking up and discharging school children.
  2. Transports students and teachers on field trips to various locations, choosing the best route and making departure and arrival time as scheduled.
  3. Inspects bus prior to operation and for safety purposes.
  4. Keeps bus clean and reports mechanical defects.
  5. Maintains order among students on bus.
  6. Follows established School policies and regulations regarding on-bus behavior.
  7. Maintains daily records on assigned route and bus operation.
  8. Performs other related duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Must possess a valid “CDL-A with Passenger” or “CDL-B with Passenger & Air Brake” license.
