I am Looking For:

A To Do List

There are a lot of things to consider when preparing to marry. The list below has been condensed with you in mind, to give you just the essential information you need to point you in the right direction as you prepare to celebrate the Sacrament of Matrimony in the Catholic Church in New Hampshire. For a more complete guide to the marriage preparation process, follow the link at the bottom of the page to the “Enduring Love: Marriage Prep Guidelines” [maybe re-word and hyperlink to document here?]

Proclaim

  1. Ask, or be asked, to marry.
  2. Inform your “home” parish.
Connect with the pastor or marriage prep coordinator of the parish where you and your future spouse will worship together after the wedding

Enrich

  1. Pray, individually and together, throughout the entire process.
Prayer is vital the life of a Christian couple and family. Check out our Engaged Couple Prayer Resources page [link to page] for some striking statistics on couple prayer as well as some very practical tips and information.
  2. Prepare with your pastor or marriage prep coordinator.
You will meet for a series of sessions to deepen your relationship as a couple, to develop a more thorough understanding of the Sacrament of Matrimony and the important role faith will play in your new life together. Be sure to ask about resources on Natural Family Planning.
  3. Complete a FOCCUS inventory.
With the pastor or marriage prep coordinator, complete the FOCCUS inventory, which is a relationship inventorying tool designed to facilitate fruitful conversation about your relationship with your fiancé. If you would like to get a sense of what FOCCUS is like, check out this do-it-yourself version from Dynamic Catholic.
  4.  Attend an Engaged Couple Seminar.
A retreat-like experience which will further enrich your relationship and marriage prep experience.

Celebrate

  1. Finalize wedding liturgy with pastor/marriage prep coordinator
  2. Celebrate the Sacrament of Matrimony
