Pressing the Pause Button: Restoring Balance and Connection in a Modern-Day Marriage

Life is busy. Married couples are often overloaded as they try to keep their marriages healthy. That’s why the NH Enrichment Circle of Worldwide Marriage Encounter and the Diocese of Manchester created “Pressing the Pause Button,” an evening dedicated to helping couples slow down the pace and stay connected to each other.

At the first Pause Evening at St. Elizabeth Seton in Bedford on January 18, guest presenter Father Marc Montminy, pastor of St. Michael Parish in Exeter, introduced 67 couples to the Marriage Diamond, a framework for building and protecting healthy marriages. The Marriage Diamond has four cornerstones: relationship, spirituality, kindness and wellness.

Diocesan Marriage Encounter Coordinators Dave and Karen Demers shared their story of realizing the need for investing and building their Marriage Diamond through a Marriage Encounter Weekend, on their 20th wedding anniversary. Soon to celebrate their 40th, Dave and Karen offered both a personal reflection of their journey and real-life tips couples can use in their own marriages.

We hope to offer the Pause Evening throughout NH in 2014. To learn about upcoming events, subscribe to eNews at www.catholicnh.org/subscribe. If you would like to facilitate a similar Pause Evening event in your parish, please contact Beth and Andy Violette at 603-472-8522.
