Wedding Anniversary Celebrating 70 years of marriage

Meet our special couples

This year three couples married for 70 years came to the Anniversary Mass!

Ruth and Ernie Coste from St. Theresa Parish, Henniker
They were married at St. Matthew Parish in Dorchester, Massachusetts.  He was a milk man and a machinist; she worked for the school system.  They had 10 children (3 of whom have died), 48 grandchildren and 57 great-grandchildren (total of 109, in case you lost count!!!) When asked what she wanted the Bishop to know about her, she said "I was a very busy mother and I did a lot of praying."  Then she told me about her three dead children, who are with the Lord.  One died at 2 months old, one at 19 years old and one at 56. Ernie is a Third Degree Knight in the Knights of Columbus.

Jeannette and Fernand Jette from St. Joseph the Worker Parish, Nashua
Fernand and Jeannette Jette were married on July 5, 1937 at Notre Dame de Pitie (Our Lady of Pity) Church in Cambridge, Massachusetts. They had 3 children, two of whom are deceased. They have 4 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren. They have lived in Nashua during all of their married lives. They were active members of Holy Infant Jesus Parish and then St. Louis de Gonzaga Parish. And were one of the founding families of St. Joseph the Worker Parish where they are still parishioners.

Cecilia and Kenneth Wasileski from Mary, Queen of Peace Parish, Winchester
Cecilia and Kenneth Wasileski met at a mutual friend’s house one Saturday night where they went to play cards.  After walks home holding hands they eventually married on August 28, 1937 at St. Michael Parish in Ashuelot. In 1957 the couple purchased their home in Ashuelot where they still live today.  They had three daughters, one who died in 2002, and have nine grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.  Still active, Cecilia and Kenneth attend church, go to bingo and still play cards at a friend’s house once a week.
