Thinking About Remarriage is a daylong program for couples (where one or both were previously married) who are thinking about remarriage or for engaged couples who plan to remarry. Sponsored by the Diocese of Manchester, this program helps couples take an in-depth look and discuss major issues related to remarriage, e.g.:
• Emotional closure of the first marriage.
• Expectations and key issues of the new marriage.
• The blending of children and families.
• Continuing relationships among extended family members, community and church.
• To learn and practice communication and life skills.
The hope is that the program will assist couples in making one of the following decisions:
• We are ready for remarriage.
• There are no issues/problems we still need to deal with, but we are not yet ready for marriage.
• We should seriously reconsider remarriage, as there are still outstanding, unresolved conflicts.
Presentations are by a team of a remarried couple and priest. The next event is:
• May 15, 2010
Sessions will be held at the St. Pius X Parish Center, 165 Sarto Street, Manchester, NH 03109. Couples can get a registration form HERE (pdf). Couples can also call Pat Gabree at (603) 669-3100, Ext. 172.
Married life brings unbelievable joy, but at the same time, marriage and family life is always a work in progress. World Marriage Day offers parishes around the world the opportunity to honor husband and wife because of their faithfulness and their sacrifice in daily married life.
As a Diocese, we celebrate married life at the annual Wedding Anniversary Mass.
On February 14, 2010, we have the opportunity to celebrate World Marriage Day in parishes. Some parishes offer a blessing of married couples, some parishes sponsor a wine and cheese event for married couples, most clergy focus their homilies on the commitment of married couples, and most parishes offer intercessory prayer for married couples. Visit the World Marriage Day Web site for the 2010 Clergy/Family Life Package, the Celebration Planning Package 2010, printable WMD Prayer Cards and the history of World Marriage Day.
