The upcoming Year of Faith declared by Pope Benedict XVI is a “summons to an authentic and renewed conversion to the Lord, the One Savior of the world” (Porta fidei 6). The Year of Faith will be held from October 11, 2012, the fiftieth anniversary of the opening of the Second Vatican Council, and it will end on the Solemnity of Our Lord Jesus Christ, Universal King, on November 24, 2013. During the Year of Faith, Catholics are asked to study and reflect on the documents of Vatican II and the catechism so that they may deepen their knowledge of the faith. The Year of Faith is also an opportunity for Catholics to experience a conversion – to turn back to Jesus and enter into a deeper relationship with him. The pope has described this conversion as opening the “door of faith” (see Acts 14:27). The “door of faith” is opened at one’s baptism, but during this year Catholics are called to open it again, walk through it and rediscover and renew their relationship with Christ and his Church.
The Diocese of Manchester Unites with Pope Francis and Catholics all throughout the World In
Eucharistic Adoration on the Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ
On June 2, 2013
Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI declared that the Year of Faith will also be a good opportunity to intensify the celebration of the faith in the liturgy, especially in the Eucharist, which is ‘the summit towards which the activity of the Church is directed; ... and also the source from which all its power flows’‛ (Porta fidei, n. 9). All throughout the Diocese of Manchester on Corpus Christi 2013, the clergy and faithful are invited to give unique witness to our belief in the Eucharist with participation in Eucharistic Adoration.
Pastors are invited to arrange for Holy Hours in their parishes, perhaps before the Anticipated Mass or before or after a Sunday Mass or Sunday Evening. Monasteries and Convents are also invited to provide for Holy Hours as part of this universal observance.
If your parish is planning to host a procession on June 2nd let us know and we'll post it on this page.

This workshop is for priests, deacons, catechetical leaders, catechists, youth ministers, pastoral associates, RCIA teams, catechumens, RCIA teams, young adults, Catholic school teachers and members of parish councils.
