The Called to Discipleship Program is made up of a 16 hour Core Course on Catholic beliefs, a Skills Formation Day and a Retreat. It is based on the United States Catholic Catechism for Adults and intended for catechists, lectors, RCIA teams, extraordinary ministers of Communion, cantors, administrative staff, and other adults seeking enrichment. Called to Discipleship will be offered at Divine Mercy Church Hall in Peterborough beginning May 8th.

This course is open to participants who successfully completed the Lay Ministry Formation Program Core Course, Called to Discipleship, or the three-year program, Called to Servant Leadership, and are serving in a parish or Catholic school as a catechist, catechetical leader, youth minister, member of the youth ministry, Evangelization or Catechumenate team, campus minister, member of the pastoral council or finance commission, or a support staff person. The course consists of presentations on each of the six tasks of catechesis as described in the National Directory for Catechesis, interactive exchanges, a variety of prayer styles and experience, and brief reflection and response assignments.

The University of Notre Dame STEP Core Course, “Introduction to the Catholic Faith,” is being offered January 9 through February 24, 2012. This is the online version of the Lay Ministry Formation Program Basic Course, “Called to Discipleship,” and is one of three components necessary to complete for diocesan basic catechist certification. This course is for catechetical leaders, youth ministers, RCIA coordinators, catechists of all age groups, and anyone interested in learning more about their faith.
