Lay Ministry Formation Program Receives Accreditation

During the 25th annual fall meeting of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops Commission on Certification and Accreditation (USCCB/CCA), the Board of Directors granted the Lay Ministry Formation Program of the Diocese of Manchester, Called to Servant Leadership , initial accreditation for a period of five years.

The USCCB/CCA accredits post-secondary programs that offer formation for people preparing for ministry in the Catholic Church. The local program director and advisory committee witness through a self-study process, self-study report, and accreditation site review that the program is in compliance with eight national standards for lay ministry formation programs. Those standards refer to the program: Mission Statement; Goals and Objectives; Curriculum; Methodology; Participants; Program Director; Instructional Faculty; and Resources.

Called to Discipleship

eCourse- Intro to Theology Called to Discipleship is composed of the sixteen hour Core Course, Skills Formation Day and Retreat Day. It is intended for catechists from parishes and Catholic schools, RCIA team members, liturgical and youth ministers, support staff and other volunteers. It is not necessary to participate in all three components of the program unless you want Diocesan Basic Catechist Certification. Many people who take the Core Course are simply parishioners who want to learn more about their faith. Called to Discipleship is offered in three deaneries each year. For your convenience, the Core Course: An Introduction to Theology is offered online through the University of Notre Dame STEP Program. See the information below for details.
