Education » Catechetical Formation » Celebrate Religious Education Month
November marks the annual observance of Religious Education Month throughout the twelve arch/dioceses of New England. This year, with the implementation of the Revised Roman Missal on November 27, the First Sunday of Advent, the Catechetical Sunday theme, “Do This in Memory of Me” serves as the focus for our celebration of Religious Education Month.
The National Directory for Catechesis, issued by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops in 2005, clearly states that the fundamental task of catechesis is “the formation of disciples in Jesus Christ.” Throughout November the example of Jesus who “instructed his disciples; (he) prayed with them; (he) showed them how to live; and (he) gave them his mission.” [NDC, #20, p.59] will be the foundation for a variety of ways that parishes are implementing new approaches to forming disciples of Jesus Christ.
Visit this page throughout November to download lesson plans, family and intergenerational faith sharing guides and other resources designed to assist all of us in our lifelong formation as disciples of Jesus Christ and in deepening our response to His command, “Do this in memory of me.”
We will post photos from your parish and/or school events celebrating religious education month. Send photos to Kathryn Antyr at kantyr@rcbm.org

Each week in November we will highlight different approaches to creating a catechetical plan and new ways for engaging people of all ages in faith formation.
