I am Looking For:

Child Abuse Awareness Training for Adults

Keeping Children Safe

As part of our commitment to providing a safe environment for all children, the Diocese of Manchester requires special training for all adults who work with youth. All clerics and members of religious institutes assigned to parishes, schools, and diocesan institutions, and all employees and volunteers who regularly work with minors must participate in training. There are two options for child abuse awareness training: Protecting God’s Children (live workshops) and Not on My Watch: Creating Child Safe Environments (online training). Both options are free to clergy, volunteers, employees, and parishioners of the parishes, schools, camps, and other institutions of the Diocese of Manchester.

Training covers the following topics:

  • Signs and symptoms of abuse in minors
  • Signs of abusers
  • Prevention of sexual abuse by Church personnel
  • Policies and procedures for reporting allegations of abuse
  • How to respond appropriately to disclosures of abuse
  • Internet safety
  • Appropriate boundaries in ministry

Protecting God's Children Training

These live workshops are offered at various locations throughout the diocese. The schedule can be found on our Events Calendar. Protecting God’s Children sessions are noted in green. Please pre-register by contacting the training coordinator listed on the schedule.

Not on My Watch: Creating Child Safe Environments Online Training

Online training is available 24 hours a day and is accessible from any computer. To access the training, go to www.nhchildsafety.org and click on “Register Here.” Enter the registration code child safety, click “Next” and complete the registration information. Once registered, a person will automatically be taken to the training area.
