The Diocese of Manchester, NH currently seeks the next Superintendent of Schools to provide Spirit-filled, innovative, and executive leadership for 21 schools serving 4000 students located throughout the State of New Hampshire, and to serve as the Bishop’s representative to five private, Catholic schools. The Superintendent of Schools serves as the senior administrator of the Catholic Schools Office, overseeing policies and procedures to ensure the proper operation of Catholic schools and providing day-to-day advice and consultation to pastors and principals on issues arising in Catholic school education, including direction and guidance on Catholic identity, educational and instructional standards, continuing formation and certification of teachers, contractual issues, staffing issues, marketing and development, long and short term planning, budgeting and financial issues, strategies for student recruitment and other issues helpful to the schools. The Superintendent consults and collaborates with the Diocesan School Board and is accountable to the Bishop of Manchester.
The candidate must be a practicing Catholic with proven ability to articulate and embrace the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church. The candidate must possess the minimum of a master’s degree in educational administration, but a Ph.D. or Ed.D. from an approved institution of higher learning is preferred. The candidate must have a record of proven leadership ability and accomplishment, and possess a thorough understanding of the nature, mission and purpose of Catholic schools and the teaching mission of the Catholic Church. Previous experience as a superintendent or associate/assistant superintendent in a Catholic school system or public school district is preferred.
